New York Yankees vs. Oakland Athletics Series Preview
Athletics: Coco Crisp: Crisp injured his hamstring Monday cheap nfl jersey night after he played 13 of the 19 innings in what could end up being the longest game of the season. The veteran was off to a very good start to the season, leading the team with five home runs. The A's replacements for Crisp, Chris Young and Josh Reddick are both off to very terrible starts to 2013. Both players are currently hitting below .200. With Crisp on the 15-Day DL, the A's will have to turn to someone else against a tough Yankees pitching staff.
Big Loss - Yankees: Kevin Youkilis: A back problem has bothered Youkilis for most of the year, and after playing on April 20th, he missed about a weeks time because of the injury. Unwisely, Joe Girardi decided to put Youkilis back in a game on the 27th. It was pretty apparent that Youkilis wasn't up to par, and by the next game he was back on the bench, and just a few days later he landed on the DL. Youk joins the entire Yankees infield, with the exception of Robinson Cano, as players who have spent time on the DL this season, and that includes catcher Francisco Cervelli who was off to an All-Star type start for the Yankees. Youkilis cheap nike elite nfl jerseys gave the Yankees a strong defender at both corner infield positions and his absence means both Lyle Overbay and Jayson Nix will be in the lineup nearly everyday until he returns. The Yankees did call up rookie Corban Joseph from AAA, but think of him as more of a backup/insurance policy.
X-Factor: Yoenis Cespedes: In any other year but 2012—the year of superstar rookie Mike Trout—Cespedes would have been an easy choice for Rookie of the Year, in fact he finished second in voting. After a slower start to 2013, Cespedes missed about two weeks of baseball with a hand injury and he just came back to the Oakland lineup last week on April 28th.

Familiar Face: Bartolo Colon: The former Cy Young Award winner missed the entire 2010 season with an injury before making his return to baseball in 2011 with the New York Yankees. Interestingly enough it was an injury to Yankee starter Phil Hughes, his Game 2 opponent that opened the door for Colon to start for the Bombers. Colon missed quite a bit of time due to injury in 2011, but still was able to string together a solid season overall, at 8-10 with a 4.00 ERA. After the season ended however, Nike NFL Trade Cleveland Browns Jersey Colon signed with the Athletics to start 2012. Once again following a respectable start, Colon was sidelined. This time it was because he tested positive for synthetic testosterone and he was suspended for 50 games. Still, the A's decided to give Colon another chance, as they re-signed him for 2013 and so far he's proven it was a good decision. Colon currently sits a 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA entering his start on Saturday.
